Why should you choose a puppy from Rubys Cavapoos?

The perfect puppy doesn't happen by accident!

We are so proud of our program and our puppies. Our goal is to raise the most healthy and well-adjusted puppies.  First of all, we make sure our moms are in good health before choosing to breed her.  We also pick our dad's very carefully and only choose the best!  Our puppies are lovingly cared for in our home, with our children and other dogs.  We use both the BAB program and puppy culture. Our curriculum includes early neurological stimulation (ENS), early scent introduction (ESI),  and lots of exposure to new situations and objects. Our puppies gain confidence and the ability to adapt quickly. Your puppy will be seen by our vet and given a thorough health screening and will receive its 1st set of shots. We also deworm them at least 4 times before going home, beginning at 2 weeks old.  We begin potty training and crate training your puppy so that it is an easy transition for you!

DNA Testing

Every breed of dog is prone to certain health problems.  To make sure that we are breeding the most healthy puppies we make sure all our moms and dads have been DNA tested.

We test through either Embark or Animal Genetics.

Some important markers to be careful of in Cavaliers are

- Intervertebral Disc Disease (Type I)- all cavaliers are affected for IVDD- however we make sure that our Dads are clear and this is not passed down to our puppies.

Dry Eye Curly Coat Syndrome

Muscular Dystrophy

Episodic Falling Syndrome

Health Screenings

The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) recommends the following health screenings for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

OFA Evaluation- Hip Dysplasia
ACVO Eye Examination- Results registered with OFA

OFA Evaluation- Patellar Luxation

Basic Cardiac Exam with examination performed by a Board-Certified Cardiologist

We have completed these tests or are in the process of completing them for all of our breeding mommas.  We also make sure that all of our dads have completed these tests as well.

ENS and ESI

From the time the puppies are 3 days old to 16 days old we perform a series of handling techniques with the puppies. There are so many benefits to this early stimulation for puppy development!

Puppy Curriculum

We believe in giving our puppies the best start to a confident well-adjusted life.  Our puppies make wonderful companions!

We follow a curriculum based off of the BAB program and also Puppy Culture. We spend hours teaching, playing with and interacting with our puppies daily!  We love seeing them problem solve, self sooth, and learn to interact with different people, animals and toys.

We begin potty training the puppies at 3 weeks of age as soon as they can begin moving around their area.  We use a grate system until they are old enough to learn to use our doggy door.  We also crate train them to sleeping fully through the night by 8 weeks. So much less work for you when you get a new puppy!!!
